It’s here! It’s here! Spring is FINALLY here!
Time to open up the windows, let the fresh air circulate through the house, and - oh, yeah - get some Spring Cleaning chores checked off your to-do list so you can embrace the freshness of the season.
Spring cleaning isn't just about tidying up your closets and changing over your winter wardrobe. It's an opportunity to breathe new life and energy into your home, both inside and out. Whether you're a meticulous cleaner or someone who dreads the thought of tackling clutter, The Cleaning Diva is here to guide you through the top things to focus on when revitalizing the inside of your home for Spring. These are areas that go above and beyond the daily or basic maintenance cleaning of your home. Let’s do this!
Declutter & Organize: Begin your spring cleaning journey by decluttering each room. Sort through items and decide what to keep, donate, or discard. Invest in storage solutions such as baskets, bins, and shelves to keep belongings organized and out of sight, creating a sense of spaciousness and serenity.
Get Behind & Under Furniture: Dust builds up in places you can’t see! Move furniture like beds, nightstands, dressers, armoires, couches and desks away from the wall and dust and vacuum those areas top to bottom. It’s a good idea to vacuum your couch cushions and mattresses as well. You may even find that missing earpod you lost in January.
Go High & Low: Look up and down for cobwebs and dust. Use a Swiffer extended dusting wand to get in high corners and the tops of door trim, moldings curtain rods, ceiling fans, and vent covers. You may need to vacuum curtains, give light fixtures a wipedown and get up on a step stool to reach the tops of high furniture, shelves and cabinets that need to be cleaned or wiped down. Once you’ve cleaned the things above you, tackle the things at your feet like baseboards and floors. Pro tip: Use a fabric softener sheet to wipe baseboards to prevent dust build up.
Deep Dive: Give the insides of your furniture and appliances some love. Take items out of cabinets and drawers of all kinds and give them a wipe out. Clean the insides of your oven, refrigerator, freezer, microwave, toaster oven, air fryer, dishwasher, and washer and dryer. Move them away from the wall if you can to get behind and under them as well. Most importantly, don’t let this overwhelm you. If you don’t have the time to spend really scrubbing these areas or appliances, just give them at least a spray and wipe out. Or call The Divas to help YOU! We offer interior appliance cleaning packages.
Steam Cleaning: Rugs, carpets or upholstery can take a beating during the winter. It may be a good idea to steam clean them if you have pets or haven’t done it in a while. You can hire a service or rent a carpet cleaner at many hardwares stores if you don’t have one at home. Use a carpet cleaner or hire a professional to remove deep-seated dirt and stains from your carpets and rugs.
Shine Windows: Use a streak-free cleaner (we love Shaklee Basic H2 window cleaner) and glass cleaning rag to make your windows sparkle so you can see the sunshine flowers blooming outside. Wipe down window sills, frames and ledges too.
Sanitize High-Touch Surfaces: Disinfect frequently touched surfaces such as doorknobs, light switches, cabinet knobs and handles, remote controls as well as door trim and doors to eliminate germs. We use Shaklee Basic G+ for these areas.
Replace Filters: Spring is a good time to replace air filters as well, so make it a point to check the filters in your vents and hvac units or otherwise to see if they need replacing.
Remember, Spring cleaning isn’t just about making your home look good—it’s also making you FEEL good. It creates a healthier and more comfortable living environment for you and your family. So grab your cleaning caddy, put on your favorite cleaning outfit, and let’s make this Spring sparkle session happen!
